The latest in the Unreal Engine Spotlight series is published today, taking a deep dive into the Balenciaga Afterworld: The Age of Tomorrow video game, which unveiled the brand’s Fall 2021 collection lookbook in December 2020.

Epic spoke to Dimension Studios, who created the digital humans using state-of-the-art volumetric video, and Streamline Media Group, who handled the game development, for the piece. Players were invited on an interactive journey based on “mythological pasts and projected futures”, exploring the Fall 2021 collection. Garments were modelled by 50 volumetric characters created with the Polymotion Stage, in the largest and most innovative volumetric project ever undertaken.
